V&H Tools
DESCRIPTION
In the telecommunications industry, the location of assets such as central offices and switches is typically specified not by latitude and longitude, but by Vertical and Horizontal Coordinates. This coordinate system does not have a simple relationship to the familiar latitude/longitude system. Yet anyone who works with telecommunications must frequently convert V/H coordinates of a location to latitude and longitude, and often may do the reverse.
V & H Tools provides for these conversions, quickly and accurately. The tools are available in two forms, both of which offer conversion in both directions (V/H to Lat/Long and Lat/Long to V/H):
- A MapBasic mainline program, which performs both interactive conversion, and batch conversion of all records in a MapInfo table
- A DLL (Dynamic Link Library), which may be called on by Visual C/C++, Visual Basic, and MapBasic programs to perform individual conversions.
USAGE
Users of MapInfo will find the MapBasic version of V & H tools convenient and easy to use. Programmers will make use of the DLL version to perform conversions within their programs.
